Welcome to Kererū School
Kia ora!
Nau mai, Haere mai, welcome to Kererū School.
Thank you for visiting our website and taking an interest in our Kura. It is a privilege to lead such an amazing school with a rich history, having opened in 1912.
At Kererū School, our vision is to inspire students to 'achieve their full potential as well-rounded, motivated, lifelong learners'.
Our ADORN values are at the centre of our learning as we encourage and support students to be 'Active', 'Determined', 'Organised', 'Respectful', and 'Nurturing'.
Our school is in the heart of a vibrant rural community at the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges. It is a hidden gem 35 minutes from Hastings and 20 minutes from Tikokino.
At Kererū School we believe in developing the whole child; physically, emotionally and mentally. We encourage our children to take risks and allow them the opportunity to be kids. Trees are there to be climbed and learning opportunities are all around us.
Whilst we are a rural community, we are also a connected community. We actively seek new and different opportunities for our students to attend in town, whilst also exploring our natural environment closer to home. We incorporate digital technologies into our curriculum and focus on developing 21st Century Learning skills.
Our school has a friendly environment, high expectations and wonderful supportive staff and community who challenge our students to achieve to their full potential. We are very fortunate to have a wonderfully dedicated and dynamic team of teachers and a teacher aide who strive to ensure all children receive the best possible education.
Our school offers small class sizes so our students receive greater one-on-one time with their teachers. Being a rural community we work together to fundraise for the school, this enables us not to charge any school fees and really emphasises the community feel of the school.
We do hope you find our website helpful, and if you are visiting to consider whether Kererū School may be a good choice for you and your whānau, please do not hesitate to contact the school- we would love to chat!
Ngā mihi,
